O.V. Chistyakova’s scientific interests includes: a study of hormonal signaling systems in the central nervous system and at the periphery, which play a key role in the etiology and pathogenesis of metabolic syndrome, diabetes mellitus and associated diseases; the research of the molecular basis for the development of diabetic pathologies using various biochemical methods and a wide range of experimental models (rodents); the use of intranasal administration of pharmacological preparations as a promising approach for correction of dysfunctions of nervous, endocrine, cardiovascular and other systems in conditions of diabetes and metabolic syndrome; a study of learning processes, spatial memory, pain sensitivity in diabetic animals using physiological tests (Morris test et al.). At present, O.V. Chistyakova’s works are devoted to the study of early mechanisms of diabetic cardiomyopathy development in experimental conditions of prediabetes and type 1 diabetes.
