The main area of my scientific interest is synaptic transmission, and the changes that it undergoes in the process of epileptogenesis, with the focus on the changes that occur in the glutamatergic transmission in hippocampus and neocortex in rat models of epilepsy, and in the epileptic tissue of patients with refractory temporal lobe epilepsy. The main technique is patch-clamp electrophysiology in acute brain slices.
