Natalia Shestakova, PhD in Biology, Senior Researcher, has 20 years of experience in studying the mechanisms of treatment of neuropathic pain and pruritus using molecular modeling methods. She is the author of 50 publications and 2 patents. With the support of 2 grants from the Russian Foundation for Basic Research, 2 grants the Presidium of the Academy of Sciences, and 2 grants from the Government of St. Petersburg, she directs researches in the field of studying the molecular mechanisms of relieving neuropathic pain and itching, based on the results of which the adjuvant analgesic and antipruritic therapies for patients with diabetes mellitus and chronic renal failure have been developed and introduced into clinical practice.
