Field of research:

1. sensory transduction (photo-, mechano-, chemo-) in insects;
2. biogenesis of the cell center and ciliogenesis in a Drosophila model;
3. molecular evolution of regulatory peptides.

Major achievements:

1. participation in the complete revision of the then commonly accepted paradigm of phototransduction in microvillar photoreceptors by demonstrating that this process in Drosophila photoreceptors does not require TRP-dependent IP3-sensitive mechanism (Neuron, 2000, etc.);
2. participation in the discovery of a novel familiy of ciliogenesis gene family (Cell, 2004).

Major methods: whole-range electron microscopy (transmission, scanning, cryo, immunocytochemistry), EDXMA, genetic analysis and screen.
