Area of research – studies of molecular basis of brain activity and its biochemical and physiological regulation in normal development, aging and pathologies (prenatal hypoxia, brain ischemia, neurodegenerative diseases, in particular Alzheimer’s disease) and the role in these processes of acetyl and butyrylcholinesterases, as well as of insulin-degrading enzyme and neprilysin which catabolize amyloid Aβ peptide. It was shown that prenatal hypoxia leads to a decrease in the activities of cholinesterases and neprilysin in rat brain tissues and blood plasma. Levels of activity of these enzymes also correlated with the scores for cognitive deficit and Alzheimer’s disease. Research is carried out using zootropic and cell models by the methods of molecular biology (immunoblotting, rt-PCR, fluorescent methods).
