Stepan Gambaryan earned his Dr Sc in biology (physiology) in 1991 in Institute of Evolutionary Physiology and Biochemistry RAS. In 1994 he joined the Institute of Clinical Biochemistry of Wuerzburg University (Germany). In 2014 he was invited as visiting professor at the Center for Thrombosis and Hemostasis (CTH) at the Mainz University Medical Center (Germany). His main domains of research of the last 5 years include mechanisms of platelets death regulation under anticancer therapy, mechanisms of NO-cGMP system effects on platelets inhibition, mechanisms of ammonia/ammonium transport in human erythrocytes, evolution of osmotic volume regulation mechanisms in vertebrates. S.G. projects are supported by the Russian Fund for Basic Researches (contests: A, KOMFI). He is a full professor at Saint Petersburg State University Biological Faculty and has supervised a number of Master’s and PhD’ theses in Russia and abroad. Most of S.G. papers are published in such journals as Nature, Blood, Nature Methods, Journal of Thrombosis and Haemostasis, Thrombosis Haemostasis, Journal of Biological Chemistry, British Journal of Hematology, Cell Death and Disease, Cell Communication and Signaling etc
