Born in 1930 in Irkutsk.

In collaboration with F.V. Krogius and E.M. Krokhin published the monograph “The community of pelagic fish of Lake Dalnee: the experience of cybernetic modeling”, 1969, Leningrad. For this work in 1971 the authors were awarded the State Prize of the USSR.

Since 1965 he has been working at the Institute of Evolutionary Physiology and Biochemistry. I.M. Sechenov. From 1967 to 1999, he was the head of the mathematical modeling group, which was transformed into the evolution modeling laboratory.

In collaboration with prof.Yu.E. Moskalenko developed a model of intracranial circulation.

Together with Academician V.L. Svidersky created a computer model of the nervous mechanism of take-off and landing of locusts.

Under the guidance of prof. L.Ya. Balonov, the work “Model of functional shutdown of one of the hemispheres and neuroformacological effects on deep brain structures” was carried out.

Together with acad. Yu.V. Natochin created a model of the water-salt balance of Pacific salmon and a model of the evolutionary process from macromolecules to protocells and animal cells.

In collaboration with B.F. Tolkunov developed a computer model of the neural network of the reticular formation of the brain.

Since 1985 he has been a professor with a degree in hydrobiology.

From 1989 to 1995, scientific director of the Neva Bay project of the St. Petersburg Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The result is a computer decision support system for the management of the Lake Ladoga – Neva River – Neva Bay – Eastern Gulf of Finland complex.

In 2010, the monograph “The Art of Modeling. Physiology, Ecology, Evolution”, which summed up the author’s fifty years of work in the field of computer modeling.
